Odaiba Digital Landscape. Model with light/digital choreography. 2015

In Odaiba Digital Landscape a near distant future is imagined where global warming has caused the famous Japanese cherry blossom trees to skip spring season altogether. The park is a nursery as well as a memorial to digitise the spring season, which is deep in tradition and attracts a vast number of tourists annually to catch a rare glimpse of the ephemeral spectacle. Other activities include glow-in-the-dark sprinklers, hologram cherry blossom, and growing fog trees, cooling joggersʼ track, laser fences and security drones. The final proposal is represented through a large masterplan model. The model consists of six modules, each module representing a traditional Japanese wood block painting that inspired the respective landscape. The modules are a juxtaposition of traditional drawings and physical models. The digital landscape is experienced through a careful choreography of light display using projections, fog machine, theatrical spotlights, iPads, iPhones and laser.
